How Do I Change My Facebook Chat Settings Back to Seeing Everyone Who Is Online?
Question by Horsesarebest: How do I change my facebook chat settings back to seeing everyone who is online?
I logged onto facebook and it said “new way to chat” so I clicked try it now and it changed it so I could only see the people I talk to the most on fb online, but I want to see who is online out of ALL my fb friends, but I cant seem to find how to change it back to normal? Help?

In the bottom right hand corner of that new chat sidebar is the options button that looks like a gear. Click on it and click “Hide Sidebar”. This should revert it back to the old way. It will stay this way as long as you do not click on the Chat box in the left hand corner. If you do, you have to reset the option. To chat, just click on the persons picture on the right hand side.

i did the same exact thing and now i cant find a way to turn it back. if there is even a way to.

@emily i see a gear at the top of the friends sidebar when i open it but it only gives me 3 options none of witch are to switch back

As of right now there is no way to go back. I don’t know what genius at facebook decided everyone would rather see their offline friends that they chat with most rather than their friends who are actually online. I don’t want to have to type each friend’s name in the search box to see if they are online simply because I chat with them less than with someone else who is offline. I think I’m done with fb.

I had the SAME issue…I couldn’t see who was online until I chose to use the option…now it shows in number only who is online but I don’t see everyone who actually IS ONLINE!!!!
Facebook, you are a bunch of IDIOTS….why would you make us choose this option and not allow us to go back?

you can view using internet explorer and not on google or mozilla browser!

IKR!!! i tot they say “try it out” means there’s still turning back. the bunch of idiot FB customizers! but then i open the exact same fb page in a new tab n it becomes normal. i cant explain why. perhaps miracle…
you can’t change it back, but hopefully soon they will fix it. if not, google+ comes out soon!
I agree it is so stupid. BUT you can search your friends at the bottom and you can find the friends that arent on there if you just type in their name.
