Are Tags Removed From Photos When You Deactivate a Facebook Account?
Recently had went to a prom I didn’t want to go to and got tagged by my mother in a ton of photos with a not so pretty (I know I’m shallow) girl. Having decided that there are quite a few people I would like to lose touch with after I grad I deactivated my facebook account.
Will all of my tags be removed from photos?
Heh… Nice… That should work, but I’ve heard the horror stories of deactivation not working. The only way to be certain is to delete.

No. Your tags will not be removed. Even after you deactivate, your friends can still invite you to events, tag you in photos, or ask you to join groups. You name will just be unclickable but you will still be tagged. Only way is to delete your account. Keep in mind that you will not be able to reactivate your account or retrieve any of the content or information you have added.
